  • 1.5 tsp crushed black pepper

  • 1tsp kalonji (black seed, optional)
  • 2 green chillis, slit in half lengthwise
  • 0.5 bunch of coriander, chopped
  • 1/4 cup ginger cut into matchstick pieces

Directions: In a large pot or karahi, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the onions and fry until golden brown. Add the garlic and ginger and fry for an additional minute. Add the chicken pieces and fry until they are browned on all sides. Add the tomatoes, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder (if using), and salt to taste. Stir well and add the water. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through. Serves 4
